Required reading

All the cool kids got here first, but, nonetheless, if you haven't seen it yet, go read this.

We really need a mechanism put in place for firing elected representatives that don't do their job properly. Some kind of national referendum. You may not agree with me at the moment, but I suspect you'll swing further towards my position after you hit that link and read the article on the other side.

I think that mechanism is called an election, is it not?

And have we not decided to throw the bums out?

And I sincerely doubt that someone with an elephant on his or her chest will be inaugurated come January of 2009.

Yes, the founding fathers would be horrified but their system does allow for the removal of the scalliwags. It's been horrible before and the people spoke, and guaranteed that it will be horrible again.
