The gauntlet... grabbed up!

Sadly No challenged some conservative hoser to try and make a Day By Day comic strip funny. I'm no conservative hoser, and I've probably failed the test badly anyway, but what the hell, here's my entry:

Begin heaping derision... NOW.

Also, feel free to leave comments on all my other nonsense, if you like.

Pretty funny. And, at one point, he DID draw clothes for her, but apparently they were special clothes that broke her back and dislocated her elbow.

You know, the bizarre double ass line on her was totally freaking me out, but then I realized that it was supposed to be her leg, folded back under her ass.

I don't know. Gary Trudeau has a great deal to answer for. I mean, it would have been okay if this had all stopped with BLOOM COUNTY, but now, he's started something he clearly cannot stop, and it's threatening our very way of life. We very well may have to go nuclear. It may be... our last, best hope.

It's funny, which is a hell of a lot more than one can say for the actual day by day.

The 'art' is somewhat... uninhibited by an overabundance of ... what's the phrase I'm looking for? Professionalism? Talent? To damn it with faint praise indeed, it's better than I could draw. Then again, I have no pretensions whatsoever of anything resembling skill with visual mediums.

Not having seen the original content of the word baloons, I can't comment as to whether or not what occupies them is a spot-on parody of that, but it is definitely funny.

I appreciate all the comments. I, too, wonder why it is that conservatives simply can't seem to find the funny in anything.

I'd guess it's because truly funny conservative humor is always very mean spirited, and in today's rather PC era, they can't publish that stuff, so what they end up with is just lame.

Laurie,

'Zonker' is a character from DOONESBURY. 'Day By Day' looks enormously like DOONESBURY, assuming, of course, you posit a DOONESBURY set in some horrible alternate timeline where Gary Trudeau has been in a car wreck resulting in him losing about half his IQ and having to draw with his teeth.
